IndySoft is calibration and asset management software made by IndySoft Corporation, founded in 1998 and based on Daniel Island in Charleston, South Carolina, with a European office in Milton Keynes, UK. It comes in two editions: IndySoft Client, for organizations that manage their own equipment, and IndySoft Commercial Lab Management (CLM), which adds estimates, invoicing and a customer portal for labs that sell calibration. Both include calibration with automatic uncertainty per test point, tooling, preventive maintenance and trend analysis. You can use the vendor-hosted IndySoft Cloud or install it on your own servers, and it is priced by quote. IndySoft pitches it to enterprise and multi-site organizations and to commercial labs, and strongly recommends training for new customers and with every major release.

Client vs Commercial Lab Management
IndySoft does not publish a side-by-side feature table. The rows below combine its two solution pages with the product types in its documentation, where CLM is described as including “all core calibration functions” plus estimates and invoicing.
| Capability (as described by the vendor) | Client | CLM |
|---|---|---|
| Calibration events, test points with automatic pass/fail, certificates and labels | ✓ | ✓ |
| Automatic uncertainty per test point | ✓ | ✓ |
| Tooling (crib check-in and check-out) and preventive maintenance, enabled in settings with no separate license | ✓ | ✓ |
| Multi-site, six languages, several currencies, one database | ✓ | ✓ |
| SAP/ERP and accounting integration, custom scripting | ✓ | ✓ |
| Field technicians working offline with sync (Field Service, TechSync) | ✓ | ✓ |
| Single-user version | ✓ | ✓ |
| Estimates, contract review, work orders and invoices, price lists, payment tracking | – | ✓ |
| Customer portal with your branding: certificates, reports, schedules, equipment status | – | ✓ |
| Real-time KPIs for lab operations; multi-branch lab tools (version 14.2) | – | ✓ |
Sources: IndySoft Client, Commercial Lab Management, product types and What’s New in 14.2, checked October 29, 2026. “–” means the vendor does not describe the capability for that edition.
Rule of thumb: choose the Client if you calibrate and track your own equipment, and CLM if you sell calibration to customers and need to quote, invoice and share certificates with them. A lab that also manages its own reference standards does that inside either edition. Because licenses can be mixed, one system can hold, for example, CLM seats for the lab and read-only seats for people who only look up equipment. The Client page also lists AIAG measurement system analysis (R&R, bias, linearity and stability), and the manufacturing page presents it as part of the all-in-one package.
How IndySoft is deployed
IndySoft gives you two places to run it: IndySoft’s own cloud, or your servers. The diagram shows both. The on-premises option has more moving parts, because you also choose the database and how remote users connect.
Users
Quality staff, technicians, lab customers
- Concurrent Client or CLM licenses, mixed with read-only licenses
- Field technicians on laptops that sync later (license loans)
- Lab customers through the CLM customer portal
- use
Clients
Windows client, browser or mobile apps
- IndySoft client on Windows (installer needs administrator rights)
- Same client in a web browser through a WebTier server
- Apps for specific jobs: CalRover (field calibration), IndyGo (asset tracking), IndySoft Scales, EAM Kiosk, EasyCert (QR, cloud only)
- read and write data in
Data, option A
IndySoft Cloud
- Database and servers run by IndySoft
- Upgrades pushed by IndySoft to all users
- Access wherever you have an internet connection
- or
Data, option B
On-premises, on your network or cloud
- Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle or Firebird
- 2-tier (LAN) or 3-tier through the IndySoft API Server (WAN)
- Optional servers you also run: WebTier, TechSync, IndySoft REST server for IndyGo
Connections
What connects to what
- Fluke MET/CAL and MET/CONNECT results, imported into calibration events (licensed add-on for MET/CAL)
- SAP/ERP and accounting systems
- Ultra API (REST/OData and GraphQL) and Power BI
- Optional document storage in AWS S3 or Azure Blob
- IndyGo devices reach your IndySoft REST server over HTTPS; that server connects to IndySoft's licensing service
Infrastructure you runHosted by IndySoft
What this means in practice:
- Who holds the data depends on the option. On IndySoft Cloud, IndySoft runs the database. A 2020 IndySoft post says Cloud data is backed up every 15 minutes and can be restored to any point in the previous 35 days, with controls audited yearly by a third party (IndySoft Cloud post); ask whether that still holds. On-premises, backups, security and database administration are yours, and the installation guide assumes a working knowledge of your database server.
- A Windows client at the core. The full client is a Windows program; WebTier puts that same interface in a browser tab rather than offering a separate web application (Web-Tier browser interface). That EAM 14 page says scanning is not supported in WebTier, while the documentation home now lists “WebTier Tools” for local printing, scanning and RS-232 (docs), so ask which applies to your version. The mobile apps cover specific tasks; for the full client in the field, the CalRover documentation points to the Field Service edition on Windows devices (CalRover overview). The version 15 release notes also mention a web client with its own sign-in page (15.0.2); ask for a demo of what it covers.
- Some apps narrow your choices. IndyGo needs an IndySoft Microsoft SQL Server database and a REST server reachable over HTTPS (IndyGo requirements), and EasyCert is available only to IndySoft Cloud customers (What’s New in 14.2). Check the apps you want against the database and hosting you plan.
What it does well, and its limits
These points come from IndySoft’s documentation, not from our use of the product. They describe fit, not quality.
Strengths stated in the documentation:
- Uncertainty calculated during the calibration. Each test point can be linked to an uncertainty budget. When the technician saves the reading, IndySoft checks that the right standards were used, evaluates each contributor (fixed values or formulas using live event data) and, unless you define your own combination formula, returns the root sum of squares multiplied by two (Uncertainty Module overview). The documentation also shows how to flag guard-band cases on a certificate with custom report code. See our measurement uncertainty guide, uncertainty calculator and guard banding guide.
- Built for commercial lab operations (CLM). Estimates to invoices, work orders, a branded customer portal, automated customer emails, lab KPIs and, since version 14.2, multi-branch tools such as a Branch Manager interface and estimate and contract review screens (CLM, 14.2).
- Choice of hosting and scale. Cloud or on-premises, three database platforms, LAN or WAN setups, one database for several sites with centralized or per-site workflows, six languages and several currencies (IndySoft Client).
- Interval analysis with named methods. Separate interval events implement a variation of NCSL International’s RP-1 method A1, which compares the current and the two previous calibrations, and method A3, which looks at the out-of-tolerance rate of a group of similar instruments. In version 14, the interval analysis module was extended to study event history and apply the recommended intervals to schedules globally (What’s New in 14.0, RP1, RP1 A3). Our calibration intervals guide explains these approaches.
- Connections to other systems. Results from Fluke MET/CAL (version 8 and later) can be pulled into IndySoft calibration events and used for its certificates, historical MET/CAL events can be imported (Fluke Results Importer), and the Ultra API exposes about 850 database entities through REST and GraphQL (Ultra API).
- Public, dated release notes. The changelog describes each release in detail, with maintenance releases on two lines a week apart (14.2.16 and 15.0.2), and the full documentation is online (changelog). On a validated system, that detail helps you assess the impact of each update.
Limits stated or implied by the same documentation:
- No published price, and several pieces are licensed separately (the MET/CAL importer, Field Service license loans, Core Scripting, IndyGo devices, kiosk workstations) or offered as separate apps and modules (EasyCert, the Scales app, the Pipettes add-on).
- Configuration takes work. Workflows, events, layouts and certificates are configured rather than fixed. IndySoft strongly recommends training for new customers and with every major release, and sells an onboarding package to configure workflows, certificates and alarms (Solutions).
- Deep customization runs through IndySoft unless you buy scripting. The embedded scripting environment used by IndySoft’s services team is not a customer-supported feature; the Core Scripting license lets you script without going through IndySoft Support (what’s included, product types).
- Windows-centered. The full client runs on Windows or through WebTier; we found no requirements page for it, so ask for one.
- Inconsistent licensing wording. The solution pages describe on-premises licenses as a monthly or annual subscription, while all seven industry pages offer to “pay upfront and own outright” (life sciences, for example). Get the license model, and what happens when it ends, in writing.
- Positioned for larger programs. The Client page addresses enterprise customers and organizations with several sites, languages and currencies, although single-user editions also exist (IndySoft Client, product types). If you track a short list of gages with calendar recalls, compare the lighter tools in our gage management software guide.
What the compliance claims mean
IndySoft names different standards on different pages: 21 CFR Part 11, GMP, GLP and GCP on its life sciences page; ISO/IEC 17025 and Z540.3 on its commercial labs page; ISO 9001 and AS9100 on its manufacturing and aerospace pages; and SOC 2 Type II and GDPR for its own security practices. These lists tell you which requirements the vendor designed for. They do not make you compliant, and none of these standards certifies software.
FDA 21 CFR Part 11
Part 11 applies when records that FDA regulations require are kept electronically, for example calibration records of a medical device or drug manufacturer (21 CFR 11.1(b)). For those records it requires, among other things, validation, limited access, secure computer-generated time-stamped audit trails that keep earlier entries and are retained as long as the records, and electronic signatures that show the signer’s name, date and time and meaning (11.10, 11.50, 11.70). Our FDA calibration requirements guide and the software comparison explain the rules and FDA’s 2003 enforcement policy.
What IndySoft says and documents:
- Its life sciences page says the software is designed to help ensure the authenticity, integrity and, when appropriate, confidentiality of electronic records to comply with Part 11, with a history of all user interactions and sign-off rules you can customize (life sciences).
- Sign-offs ask for the user name and password again. Event types can require the logged-in user to sign before completion, and removing a signature also needs credentials and is recorded in the sign-off grid (Sign Offs).
- Admin Log events record every manual edit of an equipment field in the client: who, when, the old value and the new one. They are hidden in the equipment history until you switch them on (Audit Trails).
- We found no validation package described on the pages we read. FDA and MDSAP’s audit approach (Task 15) both expect you to validate quality-system software for your intended use, so ask what IndySoft provides for that.
ISO/IEC 17025, Z540.3 and ISO 9001
- ISO/IEC 17025 requires a lab to validate its information management system before use, to protect it from unauthorized access, tampering and loss, and to check calculations and data transfers; a note to clause 7.11.2 allows commercial software used within its designed range to be considered sufficiently validated (clause 7.11, as summarized by PJLA; EA FAQ 36.1). For a lab, IndySoft’s per-point uncertainty and certificates are the parts to verify: check a few calculated uncertainties against your own budget. See our ISO/IEC 17025 guide.
- ANSI/NCSL Z540.3, named on the commercial labs page, was withdrawn by NCSL International in October 2020, which lists ISO/IEC 17025:2017 as its replacement; contracts, especially military ones, can still require it (NCSLI). Our TUR calculator covers its 4:1 and 2 % rules.
- ISO 9001 does not require software at all; clause 7.1.5 can be met with a controlled spreadsheet (ISO 9001 guide). Software helps with the recall and the records, not with the requirement itself.
SOC 2 Type II and GDPR
IndySoft states that it has SOC 2 Type II certification and complies with GDPR (IndySoft Client). As the AICPA describes it, a SOC 2 report is a CPA’s examination of the controls at a service organization relevant to security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality or privacy (AICPA). That matters most if you use IndySoft Cloud, because IndySoft then runs your system. It says nothing about whether your configuration meets Part 11 or ISO/IEC 17025. Ask for the latest report and the period it covers.
What users report
In the r/Metrology threads we reviewed, IndySoft comes up mostly inside general threads about calibration software, often in comments from people who work in commercial labs; one commenter said aerospace and defense companies tend to use it. There are few threads about it alone. The points below are anecdotes from public threads, paraphrased; we have not verified them.
- Large in-house program. In a 2026 thread from a company about to roll IndySoft out before an accreditation audit, one user with more than 15,000 gages on site said it works well, with read-only access so other staff can find and return gages, and that cost is its only drawback. Another stressed entering data in a standardized way, another asked how it connects to MET/CAL and digital standards, and another said it is hard to get all of your data out of it (r/Metrology).
- Commercial labs. In a 2024 thread, one user who had worked with IndySoft for nearly 20 years in commercial calibration labs praised it; another recommended buying training with it; a third said their calibration provider uses it, which makes certificate transfers easier (r/Metrology). In 2025, one lab user valued remote access from customer sites and automatic uncertainty (r/Metrology).
- Features aimed at commercial labs. In a 2023 thread from someone looking for calibration tracking software, one user found it very good but said some features are aimed more at commercial calibration labs; another described a steep learning curve but a lot of room to customize (r/Metrology).
- Customization through the vendor. In a 2026 thread on software for a dimensional inspection lab, one user praised its support and the customizations IndySoft made for them, and said they use only part of what it can do (r/Metrology).
- An older complaint. In a 2019 thread, one user said the software at their company crashed often after an upgrade; a reply in the same thread pointed to the manual and IndySoft’s official video channel (r/Metrology).
Of the comments summarized above, most are favorable. The caveats are the learning and training it takes (two users), cost (one user) and getting all of your data out (one user). A 2026 thread asking how IndySoft compares with GAGEtrak got no detailed answer; see IndySoft vs GAGEtrak below.
IndySoft names, apps and add-ons
Search results mix several names. This is what each one means, according to IndySoft:

If you calibrate scales or pipettes, our scale and pipette procedures explain the tests these apps automate.
IndySoft Corporation and IndySoft Europe
IndySoft Corporation was founded in 1998 and its CEO is Rhett Price (about, press release). IndySoft Europe Ltd, its UK distributor for more than 20 years, became part of IndySoft on April 1, 2025; IndySoft said customers would keep working with the same team (press release, April 2, 2025). In January 2026 IndySoft announced new offices and teams in the UK, Germany, India and Brazil (press release). European sales and support are based in Milton Keynes.
Alternatives, and how we chose them
We list alternatives by rule, not by preference, using the vendor data from our calibration management software comparison. Each rule keeps the same use case as one way of using IndySoft and, for in-house programs, the same deployment model (on your servers, or in the cloud). The lab group has no deployment rule because IndySoft offers both. A product can appear in more than one group.

IndySoft vs GAGEtrak
Both are quote only, and both IndySoft and GAGEtrak Pro document MSA studies and interval adjustment based on NCSL International’s RP-1. GAGEtrak is a Windows application for in-house gage management, sold as a perpetual or subscription license, with data in a database you run. IndySoft adds a vendor-hosted cloud, uncertainty calculated for each test point as readings are saved (GAGEtrak Pro documents an uncertainty budget built from MSA results), mobile and kiosk apps, and a separate edition for commercial labs. The documented differences come down to three questions: whether you sell calibration to customers (IndySoft documents quoting, invoicing and a customer portal; we found none on GAGEtrak’s pages), whether you need uncertainty on each test point of a certificate, and which license model you want (GAGEtrak states perpetual or subscription licenses; IndySoft’s pages describe on-premises licensing in two different ways, as noted above).
IndySoft vs MasterControl (formerly Qualer). Both serve commercial labs with customer portals and uncertainty. MasterControl’s product is listed as cloud in our comparison data; IndySoft also installs on your servers. See our MasterControl overview.
For gage check-out and crib features across vendors, see gage management software; for MSA tools, MSA software; and if budget is the constraint, free calibration software.
How to evaluate IndySoft
Ask for a demo with your own data, and get answers to these questions in writing. They are the same questions we would ask any vendor; the IndySoft-specific ones come from the documentation above.
Questions to ask before buying IndySoft
The uncertainty check in the last group matters because the calculation runs inside the software. Our uncertainty calculator gives you an independent result to compare, and the gauge R&R calculator does the same for MSA studies.
How we compiled this overview
- Scope. IndySoft Client and IndySoft Commercial Lab Management (IndySoft EAM, versions 14.2 and 15.0), and the apps and add-ons sold with them.
- Facts. Read on IndySoft’s own website, public documentation, changelog and press releases on October 29, 2026, and paraphrased. Each fact links to its source. We did not install, test or receive a demo of the software. Where pages differ, we say so or use the more cautious wording.
- Prices. Only those the vendor publishes. IndySoft publishes none, so we say “quote only”. We don’t use prices from directories, competitor pages, forums or webinar slides.
- No ratings. We don’t score products and don’t reproduce review-site ratings.
- User reports. From public Reddit threads, paraphrased, without usernames, labeled as anecdotes. We give them less weight than documentation.
- Alternatives. Chosen by the rules stated in each group, from vendor-stated data in our comparison (checked October 9, 2026), with GAGEtrak and Calibration Control re-read on October 29.
- Independence. No affiliate links, payments or free licenses from any vendor, and no vendor reviewed this page (editorial policy, methodology).
- Updates. We plan to recheck this page every quarter, and when a new IndySoft version is released.

FAQ
What is IndySoft?
IndySoft is calibration and asset management software made by IndySoft Corporation, a company founded in 1998 and based on Daniel Island in Charleston, South Carolina. It tracks equipment, calibration schedules, test-point results with automatic uncertainty, certificates, tooling and preventive maintenance. It is sold as IndySoft Client, for organizations that manage their own equipment, and IndySoft Commercial Lab Management, which adds estimates, invoicing and a customer portal for labs that sell calibration. Its documentation calls the platform IndySoft EAM.
How much does IndySoft cost?
IndySoft does not publish prices; on October 29, 2026 its site asked buyers to fill in a contact form to talk to sales and schedule a demo. Its solution pages describe on-premises licenses as a monthly or annual subscription, while its industry pages offer to pay up front and own the software outright, or a monthly or annual plan on IndySoft Cloud. Core licenses are concurrent, and several apps and modules are licensed separately. Figures such as "$199 per month" on directories and in search summaries are not published on IndySoft's site.
What is the difference between IndySoft Client and IndySoft Commercial Lab Management?
IndySoft Commercial Lab Management (CLM) is built on IndySoft Client. Both include calibration, tooling, preventive maintenance, automatic uncertainty and trend analysis. CLM adds what a lab that sells calibration needs: estimates and contract review, work orders to invoices, price lists and payment tracking, a customer portal with your own branding, automated emails to customers and real-time lab KPIs. Licenses of both kinds can be mixed in one system.
Is IndySoft cloud-based?
It can be. IndySoft Cloud is hosted by IndySoft, with no hardware on your side and upgrades pushed by the vendor. Alternatively, you install IndySoft on your own network or cloud, on Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle or Firebird. The main client is a Windows application; a WebTier server can run the same client in a web browser, and mobile apps cover field calibration, asset tracking and certificate access.
Is IndySoft 21 CFR Part 11 compliant?
IndySoft says its software is designed to help life sciences companies comply with 21 CFR Part 11, with an audit trail of user interactions and electronic sign-offs with configurable rules. No software is Part 11 compliant on its own: FDA does not certify software, and compliance depends on how you configure, validate and use the system, including how you control changes made outside the application.
What is the latest version of IndySoft?
On October 29, 2026, IndySoft's public changelog listed IndySoft EAM 15.0.2 (October 6, 2026) as the most recent release. The 15.0 line started with 15.0.1 on August 24, 2026. The 14.2 line, released in March 2025, received a maintenance release (14.2.16) on September 29, 2026.
What is IndySoft Europe Ltd?
IndySoft Europe Ltd was IndySoft's distributor in the UK for more than 20 years. IndySoft announced that it had acquired it, effective April 1, 2025, and that customers would keep working with the same team as part of IndySoft. IndySoft's European office is in Milton Keynes, UK.
IndySoft or GAGEtrak: what is the difference?
Both are quote-only calibration management tools. GAGEtrak (CyberMetrics) is a Windows application with Pro and Lite editions, aimed at in-house gage management, with data in a database you run. IndySoft adds a vendor-hosted cloud option, uncertainty calculated for each test point as readings are saved (GAGEtrak Pro documents an uncertainty budget built from MSA results), field and mobile apps, and a separate edition for commercial labs with estimates, invoicing and a customer portal. GAGEtrak states perpetual or subscription licenses; IndySoft's solution pages describe on-premises subscriptions, while its industry pages also offer to pay up front.
