This page describes how every Acribi page is researched, written and checked before it is published. Our editorial policy covers independence and corrections.
1. Research
We start from the questions people actually ask: search data, the pages that already rank, and the discussions of quality and metrology professionals in forums and videos. This tells us what to cover and what existing pages leave out. It is never a source for technical claims.
The technical content comes from a catalog of more than 180 primary sources: guides from national metrology institutes and accreditation bodies, BIPM and JCGM documents, regulations, and official handbooks. For each statement we plan to make, we note the document and the clause or page that supports it.
2. Writing
- The direct answer comes first, followed by the detail.
- Every technical statement carries a short reference in the text (for example, “Global ACI-TECH-1-009, §5.3”) and the full source at the end of the page.
- We paraphrase. We never reproduce the text of copyrighted standards, and for standards that are sold we cite only clause numbers.
- Examples, numbers and certificates on our pages are fictitious unless we say otherwise, and they are labeled as examples.
3. Checking
Before a page is published, every technical statement is checked against the source it cites. Each one is marked as confirmed, corrected or qualified, and the page is fixed before it goes live. A person then reviews and approves the page.
4. Calculators
- The calculations are kept separate from the interface, so they can be tested on their own.
- Each calculator is tested against worked examples from official sources, with all the decimals the source gives. A calculator is not published until every test passes.
- Every result shows the formula and the steps, and each calculator page lists its assumptions and limits.
- Calculators run in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us.
5. Software comparisons
When we compare software products, we follow a few extra rules:
- Product facts are the ones each vendor states on its own website, and the page shows the date we checked them. We say so when we have not tested a product.
- Prices appear only when the vendor publishes them on its own site. Otherwise we write “quote only”. We don’t take prices from directories, review sites or forums.
- There are no affiliate links, and no vendor pays us or reviews the page before it is published.
- We don’t rank products by opinion. We group them by use case and say which facts each grouping is based on.
- We plan to recheck published prices every quarter and update the date on the page.
- Vendors and readers can report an error through our corrections process.
6. Keeping pages current
Each page shows when it was last updated and when its sources were last checked. When a standard, guide or regulation changes, we review the pages that depend on it. If you spot an error, tell us.
