This policy explains how we decide what to publish, how we keep it accurate, and how we correct it when we get something wrong.

Accuracy and sources

  • Every technical claim cites a primary source: standards and guides from national metrology institutes (such as NIST), the BIPM and the JCGM, accreditation bodies and their international cooperation (A2LA, ANAB, Global ACI, formerly ILAC), and regulators (such as the FDA).
  • For standards that are sold (ISO/IEC, IATF and others), we cite the clause number and describe the requirement in our own words, confirmed by at least two independent official or recognized secondary sources. We never reproduce their text.
  • Forum posts, videos and vendor blogs help us understand the questions people ask. We never use them as the source of a technical claim.
  • When sources disagree or are unclear, we say so, or we describe the requirement in general terms rather than add detail we cannot confirm.

How we research and check each page is described in how we research and write.

Independence

  • We do not accept payment, free products, sponsorship or gifts from instrument manufacturers, software vendors or calibration laboratories.
  • No company can review, approve or change a page before it is published.
  • Our software guides compare products on criteria we publish on each page. We do not earn commissions from the products we review today. If we ever do, the page will say so at the top.
  • If any of this changes, we will update this policy and mark every page affected.

Updates

Each page shows two dates: when it was last updated and when its sources were last checked. Standards and regulations change. When a new edition is published, we review the pages that depend on it and note the change in the page.

Corrections

If a page contains an error, we correct it as soon as we confirm it and record the change below. Small edits that do not change the meaning (typos, formatting, broken links) are not logged.

To report an error, write to hello@acribi.com with the page and what you think is wrong. A source helps us check it faster.
