GAGEtrak is calibration management software made by CyberMetrics Corporation (Phoenix, Arizona). It keeps gage records, calibration schedules and results, procedures, certificates and labels, and it is sold in two editions: GAGEtrak Lite for the basics and GAGEtrak Pro, which adds gage R&R and other MSA studies, crib management and automatic interval adjustment. It is a Windows application that stores its data in a database you run (on one PC, on your network or in a cloud database you manage), and it is priced by quote. It suits manufacturers that track their own gages, want the data on their own infrastructure and are comfortable with a Windows install. We found no quoting, billing or customer portal on its pages, which commercial calibration labs usually need.

Source: GAGEtrak Software Features, checked October 29, 2026. “–” means the vendor’s table does not list the feature for that edition.

Rule of thumb from the table: Lite covers the record keeping that ISO 9001 clause 7.1.5 asks for (see our ISO 9001 guide). You need Pro if you run gage R&R studies in the same system, issue gages from a crib, or want the software to suggest interval changes. The vendor lists IATF 16949 and ISO/IEC 17025 only for Pro, which fits those features.

How GAGEtrak is deployed

A common question about GAGEtrak is whether it is “cloud”. The answer is no in the usual sense, but the database can be. The application is a Windows program; the data sits in a database you choose and run.

  1. Users

Quality staff, calibration techs, crib operators

    • Node-locked seat: one computer per license
    • Concurrent seats: shared by several users
    • On-demand reporting through Info Center (separate product)
  2. Application

GAGEtrak Pro or Lite on Windows

    • Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) PC (Lite: desktop or tablet)
    • Or on Remote Desktop Server or Citrix (proper licensing)
    • Or on virtual desktops: AWS WorkSpaces, Azure, VMware, Hyper-V (concurrent license)
  3. Data

    A database you run

    • SQLite on the PC: single user
    • SQL Server 2016+ or PostgreSQL 16.2+ on your network: several users
    • Or a managed cloud database on Azure or AWS

Outside services

What connects to the outside

  • License host (required for version 8): persistent internet connection for activation and license checks
  • Email through your SMTP server or Microsoft 365
  • Optional: Web API Server (REST) and MQTT Broker for other systems

Infrastructure you run

Where GAGEtrak runs, as described in CyberMetrics' system requirements for version 8.4 and later. The application and the database run on infrastructure you control; the vendor's license host is the only required outside service. Source: CyberMetrics, GAGEtrak system requirements, software licensing and product options pages (checked October 29, 2026).

What this means in practice:

  • You own the data store. Records live in SQLite, SQL Server or PostgreSQL on infrastructure you control, which makes backups and IT security your responsibility (and your choice). CyberMetrics recommends putting the database on a network or database server for backup, and requires that for sharing data between users (system requirements).
  • Windows only. The requirements list Windows 10 or 11 and a 1920 × 1080 display. We found no browser or mobile client on the vendor’s pages; remote users would go through Remote Desktop, Citrix or a virtual desktop.
  • Internet for licensing. Version 8 checks its license against a vendor host, so firewalls must allow it. The vendor says dark or internet-restricted sites may be authorized under a special licensing agreement (system requirements, software licensing).

What it does well, and its limits

These points come from the vendor’s documentation, not from our use of the product. They describe fit, not quality.

Strengths stated in the documentation:

  • Depth for in-house gage control (Pro). The Pro guide documents gage R&R, linearity and bias, stability and attribute studies, an uncertainty tab that builds a budget from MSA results (Type A) and other contributors such as the reference standard’s certificate (Type B), and where-used links from a gage to the products it is used on, which is what you need when a gage fails (Pro Intro Guide, chapter 9 and “Where Used” tabs). See our gage R&R guide and out-of-tolerance guide.
  • Interval adjustment with a stated method. Pro offers two methods that its guide takes from NCSL International’s Recommended Practice RP-1, 1996 edition (A1, which lengthens the interval by 10 % after an in-tolerance result and cuts it by 55 % after an out-of-tolerance one, and A3, which works toward a reliability target) plus a reliability study, and keeps an adjustment history for audits (Pro Intro Guide, chapter 10). Our calibration intervals guide explains the approaches behind these methods.
  • Data on your own database, with a perpetual option. You can buy a perpetual license, and CyberMetrics states that its maintenance agreements are optional and that the software does not lock you out if you stop paying for maintenance (cybermetrics.com).
  • Regular, documented releases. The updates page lists six version 8 releases between June 2023 and October 2025, each with published release notes; the 8.8.4 notes list more than 60 cases by number, most of them corrected issues (software updates). For a validated system, notes at that level make change control easier.
  • Services around the product. Implementation packages, data import, configuration, validation help, custom reports and labels, and training on site, on the web (five sessions for Pro, three for Lite) or self-paced (services, training).

Limits stated or implied by the same documentation:

  • No published price, and several functions are separate products: Part 11 mode, the crib operator app, the on-demand reporting utility, the label printer, the API server and the MQTT broker.
  • Windows desktop software, with stated PC requirements of 16 GB of RAM (32 GB recommended) and no web or mobile client described.
  • Lite is limited to the record-keeping core: no MSA, crib, interval adjustment or event notifications.
  • Calendar-based scheduling. Frequencies are daily, monthly, yearly or one-time; there is no cycle-count or hours-of-use recall in the guides we read, although pausing a schedule lets the due date advance only while a gage is in use (Pro Intro Guide, “Pausing Schedules”).
  • Support and updates depend on the maintenance agreement. Technical support requires an active agreement, and in-version updates are free only with one, or if you bought the software within 90 days before the update came out (software updates).
  • Built for in-house programs. We found no customer portal, quoting or billing on the vendor’s pages. Commercial calibration labs usually need those; see the lab tools in our comparison.
  • The software interprets nothing for you. The Pro guide states that GAGEtrak stores data and calculates results but does not decide whether a measurement system is acceptable, and that technical support does not cover interpreting MSA results (Pro Intro Guide, chapter 9).

What the compliance claims mean

CyberMetrics’ standards compliance page lists ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100, IATF 16949, ISO/IEC 17025, AS13100, FDA Part 11, the FDA QMSR and FIPS. A list like this tells you which requirements the vendor designed for. It does not make you compliant, and none of these standards certifies software.

FDA 21 CFR Part 11

Part 11 applies when records that FDA regulations require are kept electronically, for example calibration records of a medical device or drug manufacturer (21 CFR 11.1(b)). For those records it requires, among other things, validation, limited access, secure computer-generated time-stamped audit trails that keep earlier entries and are retained as long as the records, and electronic signatures that show the signer’s name, date and time and meaning (11.10, 11.50, 11.70). Our FDA calibration requirements guide and the software comparison explain the rules and FDA’s 2003 enforcement policy.

What CyberMetrics says about GAGEtrak:

  • Part 11 support requires the FDA Compliance Manager, a separate product for Pro or Lite 8.7.0 or later (product options). It converts the database to “FDA mode”, which permanently turns on security, audit trails, login timeout and electronic signatures. A signed calibration record cannot be changed unless the signer unsigns it, and the history of signing and unsigning is kept (FDA Compliance Manager brochure).
  • It includes a validation guide and checklist, and CyberMetrics sells on-site validation services. The brochure itself says FDA rules require purchasers to validate the software under their own operating conditions, which matches FDA’s position and MDSAP’s audit approach for quality-system software (MDSAP Task 15).
  • CyberMetrics says it “voluntarily undergoes independent 3rd party audit, review and certification” for Part 11 and the QMSR, and that certification letters are available on request. FDA does not certify software. Ask for the letter, who issued it, what version and scope it covers, and read it as evidence about the vendor’s development process, not as your validation.

ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 13485 and ISO 9001

  • ISO/IEC 17025 (listed for Pro only) requires a lab to validate its information management system before use, to protect it from unauthorized access, tampering and loss, and to check calculations and data transfers; a note to clause 7.11.2 allows commercial software used within its designed range to be considered sufficiently validated (clause 7.11, as summarized by PJLA; EA FAQ 36.1). The vendor maps GAGEtrak to clauses 6.4, 6.5, 7.4 to 7.8 and 7.11. Note the scope: GAGEtrak manages the lab’s own equipment and its calibration records; it is not described as a lab system for customer jobs. See our ISO/IEC 17025 guide.
  • ISO 13485 and the FDA QMSR. Since February 2, 2026, FDA’s device quality rule incorporates ISO 13485:2016, whose clause 7.6 covers measuring equipment and whose clause 4.1.6 requires quality-system software to be validated for its intended use. CyberMetrics says GAGEtrak is designed to align with clause 7.6. Our FDA guide explains what replaced the old 21 CFR 820.72.
  • ISO 9001 does not require software at all; clause 7.1.5 can be met with a controlled spreadsheet. Software helps with the recall and the records, not with the requirement itself.

What users report

In the r/Metrology threads we reviewed, GAGEtrak is one of the products named most often, usually in passing (a line saying their plant uses it and it works), with few detailed threads. The points below are anecdotes from public threads, paraphrased; we have not verified them, and several refer to versions older than the current version 8.

  • Does the job. The most upvoted comment in a 2024 thread on equipment management software said the software isn’t great but does what it needs to, and that support and training come with it; another user in the same thread, who had used several systems, found it easy to learn, while a third preferred GAGEpack (r/Metrology).
  • Useful for audits. A user with about 400 gages valued keeping history, measurements and a procedure per gage, and printing due labels instead of handwriting them, but described the interface as clunky and outdated (r/Metrology).
  • Custom labels and reports cost extra. One user said that after an update their custom labels had to be made by the vendor for a fee, and another prints labels with the label printer’s own software (r/Metrology). CyberMetrics lists custom reports and labels as a service (services).
  • Old versions, old problems. Users on versions older than 8 ask about report viewer errors (one fix suggested was exporting to Excel instead) and whether upgrading to version 8 is worth it; those threads got few answers (report viewer, version 7 to 8).
  • Compared with other tools. In a thread asking for alternatives, opinions went both ways: one user who had moved from GAGEpack found GAGEtrak a big step down, another found it acceptable (r/Metrology). Two of the replies in that thread came from vendors of competing products.

Taken together, the threads describe a widely used tool that does the job, with complaints mostly about the interface of older versions and the cost of customization.

Still on GAGEtrak 7 or 6.8?

Many users still run older versions. What CyberMetrics states about them:

  • GAGEtrak 6.8: mainstream support ended December 31, 2013, paid technical support ended November 30, 2022, and the license activation service is scheduled to retire on January 1, 2030 (software updates).
  • GAGEtrak 7 was built on a Microsoft Access front end; CyberMetrics’ August 2025 newsletter to version 7 users presents version 8 as the way past the limits of that platform (newsletters). Version 8 runs on Microsoft .NET; its requirements list .NET 6 and no Access (system requirements).
  • Version 8 is a different application with a new interface, a new database layer (SQLite, SQL Server or PostgreSQL) and license activation over the internet. Moving to it means a database migration, which CyberMetrics offers as a service.
  • The maintenance agreement includes up to ten years of mainstream support from a version’s release date, plus five years of extended support (maintenance agreements).

If you upgrade in a regulated environment, treat it as a change to a validated system: read the release notes for the versions you skip, re-run the tests for the functions you rely on, and check that your history, attachments and signatures came across.

Vendor-stated data from our comparison, checked Oct 9, 2026. Order is alphabetical, not a ranking.

GAGEtrak vs GAGEpack. These two are often searched together. GAGEpack (PQ Systems, sold through Advantive) is also quote only and built for in-house gage management, and is designed to work with the same vendor’s SQCpack SPC software, for example to keep out-of-calibration gages out of SPC analysis. Its product page did not state the deployment model on October 29, 2026. If you already run SQCpack, that link is the main reason to compare them.

GAGEtrak vs IndySoft. IndySoft offers a hosted cloud or an on-premises installation (its pages describe the on-premises license both as a subscription and as a one-time purchase) and a separate edition for commercial labs with quoting, billing and a customer portal, so it reaches further into lab operations; both are quote only. Our IndySoft overview covers it in detail.

For gage check-out and crib features across vendors, see gage management software; for MSA tools, MSA software; and if budget is the constraint, free calibration software.

How to evaluate GAGEtrak

The gage R&R check in the last group matters because the vendor’s guide leaves the interpretation of MSA results to you. Our gauge R&R calculator gives you an independent result to compare.

How we compiled this overview

  • Scope. GAGEtrak Pro and Lite, version 8 (current release 8.8.4), and the options sold with them.
  • Facts. Read on CyberMetrics’ own website, product documents, release notes and newsletters on October 29, 2026, and paraphrased. Each fact links to its source. We did not install, test or receive a demo of the software. Where documents differ, we use the more cautious wording.
  • Prices. Only those the vendor publishes. CyberMetrics publishes none, so we say “quote only”. We don’t use prices from directories, competitor pages or forums.
  • No ratings. We don’t score products and don’t reproduce review-site ratings.
  • User reports. From public Reddit threads, paraphrased, without usernames, labeled as anecdotes. We give them less weight than documentation, and many concern older versions.
  • Alternatives. Chosen by the rules stated in each group, from vendor-stated data in our comparison (checked October 9, 2026, with Calibration Control, IndySoft and GAGEpack re-read on October 29).
  • Independence. No affiliate links, payments or free licenses from any vendor, and no vendor reviewed this page (editorial policy, methodology).
  • Updates. We plan to recheck this page every quarter, and when a new GAGEtrak version is released.

FAQ

What is GAGEtrak?

GAGEtrak is calibration management software for tracking measuring and test equipment: gage records, calibration schedules and results, procedures, certificates and labels. It is made by CyberMetrics Corporation of Phoenix, Arizona, and sold in two editions, GAGEtrak Pro and GAGEtrak Lite. It installs on Windows computers and stores its data in a database you choose.

How much does GAGEtrak cost?

CyberMetrics does not publish GAGEtrak prices; on October 29, 2026 its site asked buyers to call or request a quote. It sells perpetual or subscription licenses, with node-locked or concurrent seats. Options such as the FDA Compliance Manager, GAGEtrak Crib, the label printer and the Web API Server are separate products, and the maintenance agreement (support and in-version updates) is renewed separately. Prices on directories and competitor pages do not come from CyberMetrics.

What is the difference between GAGEtrak Pro and GAGEtrak Lite?

According to CyberMetrics' feature table, both editions handle gages, calibration schedules with pausing and reminders, procedures, formulas, group security, electronic calibration signatures, standard and ad-hoc reports, and notifications. Only Pro adds measurement systems analysis (gage R&R, linearity, stability), crib and transfer management, where-used tracking, automatic interval adjustment based on NCSL methods, and email notifications on gage events. The vendor lists IATF 16949, ISO/IEC 17025 and AS13100 support for Pro only.

Is GAGEtrak cloud-based?

Not in the sense of a vendor-hosted web app. GAGEtrak runs locally on Windows 10 or 11 computers. Its database can sit on the same PC (SQLite), on your network (SQL Server or PostgreSQL), or in a cloud database you manage on Azure or AWS, and the application can run on Remote Desktop, Citrix or virtual desktops with the right license. The vendor pages we read describe no browser or mobile app. Version 8 also needs an internet connection for license activation.

Is GAGEtrak 21 CFR Part 11 compliant?

CyberMetrics says GAGEtrak supports Part 11 when you add its FDA Compliance Manager, which switches the database to an FDA mode with security, audit trail, login timeout and electronic signatures permanently on, and includes a validation guide and checklist. No software is Part 11 compliant on its own: FDA does not certify software, and compliance depends on how you configure, validate and use the system. The vendor's own brochure says purchasers must validate the software under their operating conditions.

What is the latest version of GAGEtrak?

On October 29, 2026, CyberMetrics' software updates page listed version 8.8.4 (October 2025) as the latest release of GAGEtrak Pro and Lite. Its September 2026 newsletter announced version 8.8.6, then in development and testing with an anticipated release in October 2026. Updates within version 8 are free with an active maintenance agreement.

Can GAGEtrak schedule calibrations by usage?

Not by counting cycles or hours, in the documents we read. GAGEtrak 8 schedules by calendar (daily, monthly, yearly or one-time frequencies), but a gage's schedule can be paused so the due date only advances while the gage is in use. In Pro, a transfer rule can pause the schedule automatically, for example when a gage is returned to the crib. Ask the vendor to show it with your own gages.

GAGEtrak or GAGEpack: what is the difference?

Both are quote-only gage management tools for in-house programs. GAGEtrak (CyberMetrics) is a Windows application with Pro and Lite editions, MSA studies in Pro and an optional Part 11 module. GAGEpack (PQ Systems, part of Advantive) is designed to work with the same vendor's SQCpack SPC software, for example to avoid using out-of-calibration gages in SPC analysis; its product page did not state the deployment model when we read it. If you already run SQCpack, that pairing is the main reason to look at GAGEpack.
